1979 Ford Escort Mk2 1600 Sport. RHD import from South Africa with all tax and duty paid. This one looks ok but the reality is it will need a but work to get it up to scratch. We will complete all the UK registration paperwork for the new owner

 

Body - Export spec 1600 Sport shell with extra strengthening similar to our RS models. Good original inner wings, strut tops, Underbonnet area is good. Strut tops have been sanded back to check numbers prior to export to check the numbers. Original wings still on the car. Underneath its had repairs on both sill lips and although solid dont look quite right. Rear floor on one side has been patched, both boot wells have been previously repaired. These would all need redoing to a better standard in my opinion.  Needs very small repair on one front chassis rail. Both centre chassis rails look way to smooth and straight. I suspect these have been dented quite badly from jacking up or rough roads and someone has tried to make them look good. Will require further investigation. Paintwork is ok in the main and perfectly useable. If you want a useable one then fine but if you want  show car youd paint it again. Couple of cracks in the paint on the bonnet and some blistering on the bonnet. 

 

Mechanics - Good original 1600 crossflow with original 4 speed box. Starts runs and drives. All standard running gear. Car starts runs and drives well but will need a good check over before using. Carb may need adjusted due to the different climate

 

Interior - Original sport seats which are not mint but perfectly useable. Door cards are ok but have speakers in them. Good dash top, headlining and carpet. Sport steering wheel.

 

Wheels - 15" Aftermarket rims with new tyres. Probably a bit big for the car and will likely rub

 

Not a bad looking car but does require work as stated above to bring it up to scratch.   Please feel free to come and see the car. We have a ramp so you can look underneath. Delivery can be arranged if required. please ask for a quote
