1981 Ford Capri 2.8i in need of restoration. Car has done 95000 miles and was last motd in 2020 . We have the V5, keys and a folder with old receipts and old MOTS. There is no service book or handbooks. The car starts runs and drives but really needs a restoration. Its failry solid underneath but will need bodywork and paintwork done.

 

Body - 2.8 shell with additional strengthening from standard models. Underneath the car is fairly solid. Its had a few repairs on front floors. It will need a small repair on the rear section of the front chassis rail. It will also need a driver side front wing. We have a pattern one here. Tailgate will need replaced as its rusty along the bottom lip inside. Boot floor looks decent. Inner wings look ok. Bonnet is  afibrteglass one and it fits fine but id be inclined to change it to a metal one. Paintwork is awful and needs totally redone.

 

Mechanics - Car starts and runs fine. It was used during 2020. Engine  would probably benefit from a service as been stood a couple of years . 5 speed gearbox feels fine. Clutch and brakes work Ok . As with any old car thats been lying it will need a thorough checkover. Sunroof works both ways.

 

Interior - Original interior which is fairly good. Drivers seat has a little wear but perfectly useable. Good door cards, carpet and headlining. Dash is uncracked on top. 

 

Wheels - Standard 13" alloys which need a refurb.  Tyres are ok. One centre cap is missing from wheels.  

 

Restoration project but a genuine 2.8 and its pretty much complete.  Please feel free to come and see the car. we have a ramp so you can look underneath. Delivery can be arranged if required. Please ask for a quote.
